People may easily be the most interesting and deep subject in the universe. People give almost everything we know character and reference. Some have said that the universe itself would not exist if there were not mind(s) to comprehend it. Even the supernatural has context and meaning only in relationship to people.
We are incredible machines but I consider the “mechanics” of human organisms to be a matter of the natural. What I mean to explore here some of the many and varied aspects of being human: what I have described using a place-holding term: principles of peopleness. You see, “peopleness” is more than psychology, sociology, a study of leadership or interpersonal relationships, or any of dozens of other segmentations commonly used in what and who we are as beings. It is the entirety of being human that I am interested in. Things that make us what we are and principles by which we operate on the level of the heart and the mind.
You may find my approach to such complex subjects a bit analytical and neatly packaged, but it is my way. It will be helpful to share a perspective up front that will aid in making sense of the organization and approach that I use. This perspective is well represented in a “Terryism” that I often use: leadership is simply character turned outward. Like unification theories concerning fundamental forces in physics, I find that at deeper levels, the same principles guide both our relationships with others and our inner beings. We affect ourselves with the same drives and influences and via the same principles by which we interact and affect those around us. So, I don't distinguish between “inner” and “outward” aspects of our beings and character.
As always, your feedback and comments are welcome and desired. More than one mind at work makes all things better.
