Terry Nelson has extensive experience in physical asset management projects and processes. He has extensive experience in all facets of water and wastewater operation, maintenance, and repair at a variety of systems and facilities. His experience began with a comprehensive and highly successful career in operation, maintenance, and repair of submarine based nuclear power plants, followed by another highly successful career in water and wastewater management, operation, and maintenance. He has held and been highly successful in national level positions in physical asset management of public utility systems. He has also held the highest levels of certification for both potable water and wastewater systems in the State of New Mexico. Throughout his thirty plus years of experience, Terry Nelson gained extensive expertise in maintenance and physical asset management, culminating in a role as the primary asset management program designer, developer, implementer, and cultural change leader for all of North America for the worlds largest water and wastewater services provider – Veolia Water. Through this role and related work, Terry Nelson developed and refined the highly effective and comprehensive strategic framework for physical asset management known as the Nexus Approach to Physical Asset ManagementTM which is now available to organizations through Terry Nelson and his consulting company, InspiraWorks. In order to make the highly effective and desired Nexus Approach to Physical Asset ManagementTM more readily and broadly available, Terry Nelson has been actively writing a comprehensive book detailing the approach while continuing to provide services to client organizations. Terry Nelson is a qualified RCM II facilitator. He participated as a facilitator in the recent AWWA Research Foundation evaluation of use of Reliability Centered Maintenance in water and wastewater utilities. He designed the asset management program for the City of Gresham, Oregon wastewater treatment system, which is participating in the Water Environment Research Foundation’s Strategic Asset Management program and was recently audited under that program with impressive results.
